We as men unconsciously organize ourselves and are organized by women into hierarchies; why?
Because women are the sexual selectors. Women select men who are of equal or higher status.
This is because they will only feel secure during the vulnerability of pregnancy if their protector is more or equally competent.
So then men exist in competence hierarchies and the best are provided with status.
This hierarchy is upheld by men. We assign status, we defend our status, and we test other men to reveal their merit, all in a giant competition for status, which ultimately equates to offspring.
This hierarchy is easily visible. Next time you are in a social setting watch carefully peoples postures, tones and eye contact depending on who they are talking to.
Every new environment provides a new hierarchy, but regardless of the people or the environment, competence in the environment is rewarded with status.
So if we want to become great men, men who are desired by women and anointed leaders amongst men, we must become high status.
And as we have seen, status is just the reward for competence. So to hold high status, we must be highly competent, generally, and in our most frequented environments.
So as men, one of our most crucial roles is to increase our competence. We must be prepared for all environments, we must be able to hold status across environments.
My advice to you is then to strengthen your competence, surround yourself with great men; thus accustoming yourself to great hierarchies, and learn to exhibit high status tells.
Do this skillfully and you will better ALL your social interactions; thus you will better your life.
