I have briefly discussed on this account the importance of challenge for self-actualization, but I would like to go more in depth.
All that you seek is yet to exist or be within your possession. So it must therefore be created or seized. Either path requires combat with the pre-existing world, for it is it’s altering you seek.
Creating a change to the existing world requires battle. It requires you to go out into the world and fight with what is to erect your vision of what can be.
Now, what is self-actualization? This is the creation of self. It is to erect into the world your inner potentiality through action.
Growth comes through pain. It comes as the pain of burning off the old to replace the new, it comes as the pain of shaving your marble to sculpt yourself.
So then it can be said that self-actualization requires battling with the world, it requires pain, it requires challenge.
Now it can clearly be seen that challenge is essential, unless you seek the alternative, to die without realizing one’s self.
If challenge will forever stand in your way you must learn to love it, play with it, embrace it, live in it, for only then can you love the journey.
So now, when life inevitably kicks you to your knees, when it shoves you off of a cliff, when it challenges you, rise, stand up straight, roll your shoulders back, smile, and thank life for another opportunity for growth.
