    Twenty Years After is a sequel to The Three Musketeers that follows events in France during the Fronde, the childhood reign of Louis XIV, and in England near the end of the English Civil War. Its main characters fight to protect Louis XIV and Charles I from their attackers, and the novel comes out on the side of the monarchy. The novel tells the story of d'Artagnan and his friends who reunite to serve under Cardinal Mazarin in rescuing the queen, and later on, saving Charles I of England. Twenty Years After is a historical and romantic novel by Alexandre Dumas, first serialized from January to August 1845.
