    ~ 1878 ~
"Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits" is an 1878 book by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The book is filled with aphorisms about a variety of concepts, reflecting Nietzsche's admiration of Voltaire as a free thinker. Its content represents a break from German Romanticism and a definite positivist slant. The book comprises a collection of debunkings of unwarranted assumptions, rather than an interpretation. It contains the seeds of concepts crucial to Nietzsche's later philosophy, such as the need to transcend conventional Christian morality. The first installment of the book sold only 120 copies, and it was used by Nazis as supposed evidence of Nietzsche's support for nationalism and anti-Semitism, both of which he actually wrote against.
