"Discourse on the Method" is a philosophical and autobiographical treatise by René Descartes, published in 1637. It is one of the most influential works in the history of modern philosophy and important to the development of natural sciences. Descartes tackles the problem of skepticism by starting his line of reasoning by doubting everything, so as to assess the world from a fresh perspective, clear of any preconceived notions or influences. The book is divided into six parts, covering various scientific considerations, the principal rules of the method, morals and maxims of conducting the method, proof of God and the soul, physics, the heart, and the soul of man and animals, and prerequisites for advancing the investigation of nature.
